The station is licensed to and owned by TeleSouth Communications, Inc. Licensed as "WEEZ" since 1979, the station's call sign was changed to "WHER" by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on March 13, 1999. The station's call sign was changed again to "WLAU" by the FCC on June 26, 2012.

WIZK

WIZK is a radio station licensed to serve Bay Springs, Mississippi. The station is owned by M. Jerome Huey. It airs a country music format. The station was assigned the WIZK call letters by the Federal Communications Commission in 1987. It is one of the few stations left in the United States that are owned by an individual rather than a corporation. WHII had a sister station, WXIY at 94.3 FM on which was a simulcast of the AM programming.

Bay Springs, Mississippi

Bay Springs is a city in Jasper County, Mississippi. The population was 2,097 at the 2000 census. It is located at the intersection of state highways 15 and 18. The area was settled in the 1880s by Joe Blankenship, who built the sawmill that became the town's industrial base. The city was incorporated about twenty years later after the arrival of railroads going through it.
