Forest Green, Missouri

Forest Green is an unincorporated community in southeastern Chariton County, Missouri, United States. It is located about eight miles south of Salisbury on Route 5. It was settled in the 1870s. Its post office has closed; mail now comes from Salisbury. Forest Green in Chariton Township was laid out by John Green Forest in 1873. It was located on the right-of-way of the Keokuk and Kansas City Railroad System and connected Salisbury and Glasgow. This branch line was abandoned in 1942.

Battle of Glasgow

The Battle of Glasgow was fought on October 15, 1864, in and near Glasgow, Missouri as part of Price's Missouri Expedition during the American Civil War. Although the battle resulted in a Confederate victory and the capture of significant war material, it had little long-term benefit as Price was ultimately defeated at Westport a week later, bringing his campaign in Missouri to an end.

Glasgow Railroad Bridge

The Glasgow Railroad Bridge is four-span through truss bridge over the Missouri River belonging to the Kansas City Southern railroad between Howard County, Missouri and Saline County, Missouri. It was originally built in 1878-79 by Gen. William Sooy Smith for the Chicago and Alton railroad as a five-span Whipple through truss and described as the world's first all-steel bridge. In 1900 it was rebuilt with Parker truss spans. Its previous owner was Gateway Western.
