Caruthersville Bridge

The Caruthersville Bridge is a cantilever bridge carrying Interstate 155 and U.S. Route 412 across the Mississippi River between Caruthersville, Missouri and Dyersburg, Tennessee. Construction of the bridge began in February 1969 and the bridge was completed in 1976. It is the only bridge to cross the Mississippi River between Cairo, Illinois and Memphis, Tennessee, though the Dorena-Hickman Ferry also crosses the Mississippi in this area.

Pemiscot County, Missouri

Pemiscot County is a county located in the Bootheel in Southeast Missouri in the United States. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, the county's population was 18,296. The largest city and county seat is Caruthersville. The county was officially organized on February 19, 1851, and is named for the local bayou, taken from the Fox dialect pem-eskaw, meaning "liquid mud."
