Morrison Observatory

Morrison Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by Central Methodist University located in Fayette, Missouri (USA). It was named after Bernice Morrison who, in 1874, pledged $100,000 to C. W. Pritchett for the construction of the observatory. Half of that amount would go the construction of the telescope and observatory; the other half to a permanent trust fund. The observatory was built soon afterwards in Glasgow, Missouri at Pritchett College and opened in 1875.

KPLA

KPLA refers to a Cumulus radio station in Columbia, Missouri. KPLA first started out as 101.7 KARO-FM, an "easy listening" station in February 1983. In 1986, it became known as K102. Then in 1994, it became KPLA and has consistently been a top-three radio station in the market, playing "soft rock. " KPLA broadcasts from the highest tower in Columbia, Missouri, reaching 70 miles within mid-Missouri.

KBXR

KBXR (often known and referred to simply as BXR) is a local radio station located on Old Highway 63 in Columbia, Missouri. Its format has been Adult Album Alternative (AAA) since it went on-the-air on October 22, 1993. The first song was "You Send Me" by Pharaoh Sanders. At the time, the frequency was 106.1, but it has since changed to 102.3. 102.3 BXR interviews bands or singers playing in the city's various locations. Battle of Mount Zion Church

The Battle of Mount Zion Church was fought on December 28, 1861, in Boone County, southeast of Hallsville, Missouri, during the American Civil War. The resulting Union victory here and elsewhere in central Missouri ended Confederate recruiting activities in the region and pushed conventional Confederate forces out of the area until the desperate fall 1864 invasion by General Sterling Price and his Missouri State Guard.
