Long Branch Dam

Long Branch Dam is a dam in Macon County in northern Missouri, about eighty miles north of Columbia, Missouri. The dam is a project of the United States Army Corps of Engineers to provide flood control, water storage, wildlife conservation, and recreation. Completed in 1978, the 71-foot-high earthen dam impounds the water of the East Fork of the Little Chariton River.

Macon County, Missouri

Macon County is a county located in Northeast Missouri in the United States. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, the county's population was 15,566. Its county seat is Macon. The county was organized January 6, 1837 and named for Nathaniel Macon, a Revolutionary War hero and North Carolina politician. Nathaniel Tuttle was the first person to settle in Macon County during the late 1790s.

College Mound, Missouri

College Mound is an unincorporated community in southwestern Macon County, Missouri, United States. It was settled in 1853 and later incorporated, but has since been disincorporated. It was named for a college located there It formerly had a post office, but that has closed and mail now comes from Excello. As said by the Encyclopedia of the history of Missouri, the town had been home to McGee College, a private college, founded on October 10, 1854.
