Hurricane Deck Bridge

Hurricane Deck Bridge is a truss arch bridge located on Lake of the Ozarks in Camden County, Missouri. It carries Missouri Route 5 across the Osage Arm of the lake. It is perhaps one of the most distinctive features on the lake. It is the only truss-type bridge remaining on the lake. The American Institute of Steel Construction selected the bridge as the most beautiful steel span built in 1936. It is about half a mile long.

Hurricane Deck, Missouri

Hurricane Deck is an unincorporated community in Camden County, Missouri, United States, on the Lake of the Ozarks. It is part of the lake's resort area, and according to one source is named for a tornado which struck the area, tornadoes once being called "hurricanes" locally. According to lakehistory. info it derives its name from the nautical name for the top deck of a river steam ship which is called a "Hurricane Deck" because the wind always blew up there.
