Washoe Theater

The Washoe Theater in Anaconda, Montana was the last theater constructed in the United States in the Nuevo Deco (a form of Art Deco) style. The theater was designed in 1930 by Seattle architect B. Marcus Priteca. It was almost entirely finished by 1931, but its opening was delayed until Thursday, September 24, 1936 because of the Great Depression. In 1936 dollars, its construction cost was a grand $200,000. The Smithsonian rates the Washoe as a national treasure due to the lavish interior.

Anaconda, Montana

Anaconda, county seat of Anaconda City/Deer Lodge County, is located in mountainous southwestern Montana. The Continental Divide passes within 8 miles (13 km) south of the community with the local Pintler Mountain range reaching 10,379 feet (3164 m). According to the 2010 census the population is 9,328, with a per capita personal income of $21,163 and a median household income of $26,305. It is the ninth most populous city in Montana.

KANA

Anaconda Smelter Stack

The Anaconda Smelter Stack is a radial brick smoke stack, once part of the Anaconda Company at Anaconda, Montana in the United States. The stack rests on a concrete foundation and measures 585 feet 1.5 inches (178.3 m) high. The inside diameter of the stack is 75 ft at the bottom and 60 ft at the top. The wall thickness ranges from six feet at the bottom to two feet at the top. Construction of the stack was completed on May 5, 1919.

KGLM-FM (97.7 FM, "Magic 97.7 & 100.3") is a commercial radio station in Anaconda, Montana, broadcasting to the Butte, Montana, area playing CHR-Pop music. The station, established in 1974, is currently owned by Butte Broadcasting, Inc. The main offices and studios of Butte Broadcasting are at 660 Dewey in Butte. The transmitter site is north of Sheep Gulch Road in Anaconda, Montana.
