Bruning, Nebraska

Bruning is a village in Thayer County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 279 at the 2010 census. During World War II the U.S. Army Air Forces operated Bruning Army Airfield nearby. In October 1960, inventor and aviator Ed Yost used Bruning as the starting point for the first free flight of a modern, propane-fueled hot air balloon.

Fillmore County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of 2010, the population was 5,890. Its county seat is Geneva. The county was named for President Millard Fillmore. Fillmore is one of 93 counties in Nebraska. In the Nebraska license plate system, Fillmore County is represented by the prefix 34 (it had the thirty-fourth-largest number of vehicles registered in the county when the license plate system was established in 1922).
