Alloways Creek Township, New Jersey

Alloways Creek Township is a defunct municipality in Salem County, New Jersey, United States. The Township was first mentioned in official records as of May 12, 1701, though the exact date of incorporation is unknown. The Township survived until June 17, 1767, when it was split into Lower Alloways Creek Township and Upper Alloways Creek Township (now known as Alloway Township).

Quinton Township, New Jersey

Quinton Township is a township in Salem County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 2,666, reflecting a decline of 120 (-4.3%) from the 2,786 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 275 (+11.0%) from the 2,511 counted in the 1990 Census. Quinton was formally incorporated as a township by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 18, 1873, from portions of Upper Alloways Creek Township (now Alloway Township).

Abel and Mary Nicholson House

The Abel and Mary Nicholson House is where Abel and Mary Nicholson lived in Salem, New Jersey. It is an excellent example of a Delaware Valley patterned brick building. The vitrified bricks form geometric designs and highlight the year of construction. The building has not been significantly altered since it was built and has been receiving grants to help preserve it. It was donated to a local preservation organization.

Lower Alloways Creek Township is a township in Salem County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 1,770, reflecting a decline of 81 (-4.4%) from the 1,851 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn declined by 7 (-0.4%) from the 1,858 counted in the 1990 Census. \t Lower Alloways Creek Township was formed on June 17, 1767 when Alloways Creek Township was subdivided and Upper Alloways Creek Township was also formed.

Battle of Quinton's Bridge

The Battle of Quinton's Bridge was a minor battle of the American Revolutionary War fought on March 18, 1778, during the British occupation of Philadelphia. New Jersey militia companies defending a bridge across Alloway Creek in Salem County, New Jersey were lured into a trap by British Lieutenant Colonel Charles Mawhood and suffered significant casualties.
