The South Orange-Maplewood School District is a regional public school district, serving students from two communities in Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The district enrolls students from the suburban communities of Maplewood and neighboring South Orange. As of the 2008-09 school year, the district's nine schools had an enrollment of 6,188 students and 485.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.8.

New Jersey's 10th congressional district is an urban congressional district in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The district consists of portions of Essex, Hudson, and Union counties, and includes the cities of Newark and Orange. The district's seat is currently represented by Donald M. Payne, Jr.. It was represented by Democrat Donald M. Payne from 1989 to 2012, and became vacant as a result of Payne's death on March 6, 2012 until November 15, 2012 when Donald M. Payne, Jr. was sworn into office.
