Rahway is a city in southern Union County, New Jersey, United States. It is part of the New York metropolitan area, being 21.6 miles southwest of Manhattan and 5 miles west of Staten Island. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city's population was 27,346, reflecting an increase of 846 (+3.2%) from the 26,500 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 1,175 (+4.6%) from the 25,325 counted in the 1990 Census.

Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center
The Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center is a correctional facility operated by the New Jersey Department of Corrections. The facility is located in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township, New Jersey. ADTC provides treatment to convicted sex offenders. The Bureau of State Use Industries/DEPTCOR operates a clothing shop at the facility. The Northern Regional Unit, located in Kearny, serves as the temporary location for civilly committed sexual predators.

East Jersey State Prison
East Jersey State Prison (EJSP), originally Rahway State Prison, was established in 1896 as the first reformatory in New Jersey. It is a maximum-security institution operated by the New Jersey Department of Corrections, housing approximately 1,900 men as of 2006. The prison is actually located in Avenel in Woodbridge Township, at the border with Rahway. The prison's mailing address is in Rahway.

Linden Assembly
Linden Assembly was a General Motors automobile factory in Linden, New Jersey. The 2,600,000-square-foot factory opened in 1937 to build Buick, Pontiac, Cadillac, and Oldsmobile vehicles. During World War II, the plant was also used to produce fighter planes for the United States military, primarily the FM Wildcat, an improved version of the F4F Wildcat. Beginning in September 1991 the facility was closed and retooled for truck and sport utility vehicle assembly.
