Angel Fire is a village in Colfax County, New Mexico, United States. The population was 1,048 at the 2000 census. It is a popular ski resort destination, with a base elevation of 8,600 feet (2,621 m) and a summit of 10,677 feet (3,254 m) with over 500 acres of skiable terrain. Philmont Scout Ranch camps
The following are the camps located in Philmont Scout Ranch, a large property in Colfax County near Cimarron, New Mexico, owned by the Boy Scouts of America and used as a backpacking reservation. Philmont operates from one large Base Camp which includes camping headquarters, the Philmont Training Center and Villa Philmonte, the Seton Museum, fire response facilities, cattle headquarters, and an administration area. As of 2007, there were 65 trail camps and 34 staffed camps.

Cimarron River (Canadian River)
The Cimarron River, flowing entirely in New Mexico, was originally known as the Le Flecha. It runs for 60 miles from Eagle Nest Lake to below the city of Springer, New Mexico and is a tributary of the Canadian River, the southwesternmost major tributary flowing into the Mississippi River via the Arkansas River sub-basin. Near Philmont Scout Ranch, the first dozen miles of the Cimarron River are known for fine trout fishing.
