Mountainair is a town in Torrance County, New Mexico, United States. It was founded in 1903 by John Corbett, Colonel E. C. Manning, and former U.S. Governor E. S. Stover. Capilla Peak Observatory

Capilla Peak Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by the University of New Mexico (UNM). It is located in the Manzano Mountains of central New Mexico (USA), approximately 30 mi southeast of Albuquerque. It has a 0.6 m Cassegrain reflecting telescope built by Boller and Chivens and equipped with a CCD.

Manzano Peak

Manzano Peak is the highest peak in the Manzano Mountains, a mountain range in the central part of the US State of New Mexico. It lies 7 miles southwest of the town of Manzano and 18 miles east-southeast of the town of Belen, in the Manzano Mountain Wilderness Area, part of the Mountainair Ranger District of the Cibola National Forest. It forms the striking southern anchor of the range, rising 3,900 feet in 3 miles above its western base.
