Los Lunas, New Mexico

Los Lunas is a village in Valencia County, New Mexico, in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the village population is 24,877 inside the village limits due to the new housing developments at El Cerro de Los Lunas (Huning Ranch) It is the county seat of Valencia County. Los Lunas is part of the Albuquerque Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Los Lunas" is a partial Anglicization of the name of the Luna family, who originally settled in the area (los Luna, in Spanish).

Pottery Mound

Pottery Mound (LA 416) was a late prehistoric village on the bank of the Rio Puerco, west of Los Lunas, New Mexico. It was an adobe pueblo most likely occupied between 1350 and 1500. The site is best known for its 17 kivas, which yielded a large number of murals. A 2007 book, New Perspectives on Pottery Mound Pueblo provides a general introduction to the site.

Los Lunas High School

Los Lunas High School is a high school (grades 9 - 12) in Los Lunas, Valencia County, New Mexico. In 2003 it had some 2,383 students. The school's student count before US Labor Day in September 2007 was 1,791. Los Lunas High School was founded in 1926 as Solomon Luna High School. It was named for Solomon Luna, the most prominent political and financial leader of the area at the time. The school was created to ease travel to Belen High School in southern Valencia County.

Los Lunas (Rail Runner station)

Los Lunas is a station on the New Mexico Rail Runner Express commuter rail line, located in Los Lunas, New Mexico, at the intersection of NM Highway 314 and Courthouse Road. The station began service on December 11, 2006 as the fourth station on the line. Los Lunas Public Transportation has shuttles serving the station. Each of the Rail Runner stations contains an icon to express each community's identity. The icon representing this station is the old Los Lunas train station.
