Elmont is an unincorporated census-designated place located in the northwest corner of the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, New York, along its border with the borough of Queens in New York City. It is a suburban bedroom community located on Long Island. The population was 33,198 at the 2010 census. Elmont is famous as the home of Belmont Park which hosts the Belmont Stakes, the third leg of the prestigious Triple Crown of thoroughbred racing.

Belmont Park

Belmont Park is a major Thoroughbred horse-racing facility located in Elmont in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, New York, on Long Island adjoining New York City. It first opened on May 4, 1905. It is typically open for racing throughout May and June and into late July, and again from late September through late October. It is world famous as the home of the Belmont Stakes, known as the "Test of the Champion", the third leg of the Triple Crown.

Merrick Road

Merrick Road, named Merrick Boulevard inside New York City, is an east–west urban arterial in Queens and Nassau County, New York, in the United States. It runs east from the Queens neighborhood of Jamaica through Merrick to the line between Nassau and Suffolk counties, where it becomes Montauk Highway. The easternmost portion of Merrick Road is signed as part of New York State Route 27A (NY 27A).
