Napeague State Park

Napeague State Park is a 1,364-acre park on either side of the Montauk Highway, Route 27, on the "Napeague Stretch" between Amagansett, New York and Montauk, New York, in the United States. It stretches from the Atlantic Ocean across the entire narrow width of the South Fork of Long Island to Gardiners Bay/Block Island Sound on the north. On the edge of it is the hamlet of Napeague, New York. The land was initially purchased by the Nature Conservancy and conveyed to New York State in 1986.

Freetown (East Hampton)

Freetown is an area in East Hampton (town), New York originally inhabited by freed slaves and Native Americans. East Hampton in the early 19th century was lightly populated and one of the biggest slave holders were descendents of Lion Gardiner who owned Gardiner's Island. During the War of 1812 slaves from the island were used to ferry supplies back and forth because they could slip through British lines because it was "obvious" that they were "owned.
