Walton is a town in Delaware County, New York, United States. The population was 5,576 at the 2010 census. The Town of Walton contains a village of Walton. The town claims to be the "Scarecrow capital of the World. " The town is in the west-central part of the county. The town was formed in 1797 from the Town of Franklin. The original settlement area, near the site of the Village of Walton, occurred in 1785.

Cannonsville Reservoir

The Cannonsville Reservoir is a reservoir in Delaware County, New York, that was formed by impounding over half of the West Branch of the Delaware River. It is the westernmost of New York City's reservoirs, being at the western portion of the Delaware Watershed. Placed in service in 1964, it is the most recently constructed New York City-owned reservoir. The town of Cannonsville was destroyed to make room for the reservoir. The reservoir lies within the towns of Tompkins and Deposit.

Downsville, New York

Downsville, New York is a hamlet and former village within the town of Colchester in Delaware County, New York. It is the site of the Downsville Bridge, a covered bridge and the historic Union Free School. Downsville is located on the East Branch of the Delaware River. A dam on this portion of the river, at Downsville, was completed by New York City in 1954, creating the Pepacton Reservoir, which is part of the New York City water supply system.
