Bloomingburg Reformed Protestant Dutch Church

The former Bloomingburg Reformed Protestant Dutch Church is located on Main Street in Bloomingburg, New York, United States. An ornate wooden Federal style building dating to 1821, it is one of the oldest churches in the county. It remains mostly as it was originally built save for some changes to the interior. Its 80-foot-tall (24 m) bell tower visible for some distance, is a local landmark. In 1980 the church, no longer in use, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Wurtsboro, New York

Wurtsboro is a village located on U.S. Route 209 in the town of Mamakating in Sullivan County, New York, United States, near its junction with New York State Route 17 (which is being upgraded to Interstate standards and will be renumbered as Interstate 86). The population was 1,246 at the 2010 census. Wurtsboro is notable for a store in the business district called the Canal Towne Emporium. The store is well-known, and has a long history in the village.

Wurtsboro-Sullivan County Airport

The first known owner and operator of the Wurtsboro Airport was Lee Lord, he gave flying lessons in the 1920-30's. He may have acquired the original farm from the Helm's family. Later, the Wurtsboro Airport was then bought by Anthony Barone Sr, and his wife Theresa (from Hoboken, NJ) in the 1940s. He raised his family on the airport, in the old homestead that used to reside there. Before it became the airport, it was the Helm's Family farm.

Delaware and Hudson Canal

The Delaware and Hudson Canal was the first development venture of the Delaware and Hudson Canal Company, which would later develop the Delaware and Hudson Railway. Between 1828 and 1899, the canal's barges carried anthracite coal from the mines of Northeastern Pennsylvania to the Hudson River and then to its market in New York City. These developments affected both the city and the region, stimulating the former's growth and encouraging settlement in the latter, then sparsely populated.
