Irvington, sometimes known as Irvington-on-Hudson, is an affluent suburban village in the town of Greenburgh in Westchester County, New York, United States. It is located on the eastern bank of the Hudson River, 20 miles north of midtown Manhattan in New York City, and is served by a station stop on the Metro-North Hudson Line.

Lord & Burnham

Lord & Burnham was a noted American boiler and greenhouse manufacturers, and builders of major public conservatories in the United States. The company began in 1849 when Frederick A. Lord, a carpenter, started building wood and glass greenhouses for neighbors in Buffalo, New York. It became Lord's full time profession in 1856 as production moved to Syracuse, New York and then to Irvington, New York to be closer to his customers in the large Hudson River estates.

Irvington (Metro-North station)

The Irvington Metro-North Railroad station serves residents of Irvington, New York via the Hudson Line. Trains leave for New York City every 25 to 35 minutes on weekdays. It is 21.9 miles from Grand Central Terminal and travel time to Grand Central is about 51 minutes on local trains and 36 to 42 minutes on express/semi-express trains.

Hackley School

Hackley School is a private college preparatory school located in Tarrytown, New York and is a member of the Ivy Preparatory School League. Founded in 1899 by wealthy philanthropist Mrs. Caleb Brewster Hackley, Hackley was intended to be a Unitarian alternative to the mostly Episcopal boarding schools throughout the Northeast. Since its founding, Hackley has dropped its sectarian affiliations and changed from all-boys to coeducational.
