Floyd, New York

Floyd is a town in Oneida County, New York, United States. The population was 3,819 at the 2010 census. The town is named after William Floyd, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The Town of Floyd is located east of the City of Rome and the former Griffiss Air Force Base. The Erie Canal passes along the south part of the town.

Oriskany Battlefield State Historic Site

Oriskany Battlefield State Historic Site is a historic site in Oneida County, New York, USA that marks the Battle of Oriskany, fought in 1777 during the American Revolution, one of the bloodiest engagements of the war. The park is northwest of the Village of Oriskany on NY Route 69 and is southeast of the City of Rome. An obelisk, with plaques at the base commemorating the battle and its participants, is the central feature of the site. The battlefield is on the south side of the Mohawk River.

The Battle of Oriskany, fought on August 6, 1777, was one of the bloodiest battles in the North American theater of the American Revolutionary War and a significant engagement of the Saratoga campaign. Griffiss International Airport

Griffiss International Airport is a public airport located one mile (2 km) east of the central business district of Rome, a city in Oneida County, New York, United States. This airport is publicly owned by County of Oneida. It is located on the former site of Griffiss Air Force Base, which closed in 1995. Operations from the Oneida County Airport in Oriskany, New York were transferred here in 2006, after which the county closed that airport in January 2007.

Rome Laboratory

The Rome Laboratory, formerly known as the Rome Air Development Center, is one of eight research and development labs run by the US Air Force located at Griffiss AFB in Rome, NY.
