Hinckley Reservoir serves water to 130,000 people in the Greater Utica, New York area. The reservoir is located in the towns of Russia in Herkimer County, and Remsen in Oneida County. The reservoir, known by the name of the village near which it is situated, Hinckley, New York is about twenty miles north of Utica, New York in the foot-hills of the Adirondack mountains.

Walcott-Rust quarry

The Walcott-Rust quarry is an excellent example of an obrution (rapid burial or "smothered") Lagerstätten. Unique preservation of trilobite appendages resulted from early consolidation (cementation) of the surrounding rock, followed by spar filling of the interior cavity within the appendages.

Remsen (village), New York

Remsen is a village in Oneida County, New York, USA. The population was 508 at the 2010 census. The Village of Remsen is in the southwest part of the Town of Remsen. The Remsen Barn Festival of the Arts (FOTA) is held in late September. The first Barn Festival was in 1980. Thousands of visitors attend this yearly event on Main street. The Mohawk, Adirondack, & Northern (MHWA) Railroad crosses the town.
