The village includes a small waterfall on Honeoye Creek, which flows through the village and gives it its name. Honeoye (pronounced ‘hʌ. ni. ,ɔɪ or HONEY-oy) is a Seneca word translated as "a lying finger," or "where the finger lies. " The Village of Honeoye Falls is within the Town of Mendon.
