LORAN-C transmitter Seneca

The LORAN-C transmitter Seneca is the master station of the Northeast US LORAN-C Chain (GRI 9960) and the X-Ray secondary station of the Great Lakes Chain (GRI 8970). It is located within the Seneca Army Depot in Romulus, New York, South of Geneva, New York. It uses a 1000 Kilowatt; 700 foot (213.36 m) guyed mast that was constructed in 1977 and dedicated on August 2, 1978.

Seneca Army Depot

The former Seneca Army Depot occupied 10,587 acres (43 km²) between Seneca Lake and Cayuga Lake in Seneca County, New York. It was used as a munitions storage and disposal facility by the United States Army from 1941 until the 1990s. The Depot was listed in the 1995 Base Realignment and Closure Commission and formally shut down on September 30, 2000.
