Owasco Lake

Owasco Lake /oʊˈwɑːskoʊ/ is the sixth largest and third easternmost of the Finger Lakes of New York in the United States of America. The name Owasco can be roughly translated from a Mohawk and Iroquois term meaning "crossing". The lake is eleven miles (17 km) long and the city of Auburn is located at the northern end and takes its drinking water from the lake. The lake lies entirely within the boundaries of Cayuga County.

The Town of Owasco is in the eastern part of Cayuga County and is at the southeast city line of Auburn, New York. The town borders Owasco Lake, from where it gets its name. Owasco is home for many of the wealthier residents of Cayuga County.

Owasco River

Owasco River (also known as Owasco Creek, Owasco Lake Outlet, and Owasco Outlet) is a river in Cayuga County, New York, United States. The Owasco River Railway is named after the river. It begins at Owasco Lake and flows north-northwest to the Seneca River. The city of Auburn owns and operates a dam on the river, and empties the effluent from its wastewater treatment plant into the river.
