WQRS

WQRS is a radio station in Salamanca, New York in the Olean, New York broadcasting area. The station broadcasts a country music format and is owned by Pembrook Pines Media Group. The station signed on October 15, 1988 and had been known as WQRT, branded as 98 Rocks, under the ownership of Michael Washington until the year 2006, when Washington sold the station to its current owners. The intention was to split WQRT into two stations, WQRS (Q Rock Salamanca) and WQRW.

The former village lies in the southern part of the Town of Carrollton and is six miles north of the city of Bradford, Pennsylvania. The name is said to derive from the rapid deterioration of some excavated skeletons, which quickly became white dust upon exposure to air.
