Barryville, New York

Barryville is a hamlet in Highland, Sullivan County, New York. It is named for William T. Barry, postmaster general under President Andrew Jackson. The community grew up around the D&H Canal, which opened in 1828 and operated until 1898. The canal ran through what is today the center of the hamlet, and the canal company operated a number of stores, an office and a dry dock there.

Roebling's Delaware Aqueduct

Roebling's Delaware Aqueduct, also known as the Roebling Bridge, is the oldest existing wire suspension bridge in the United States. It runs 535 feet (175 meters) from Minisink Ford, New York to Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania over the Delaware River. Opening in 1849 as an aqueduct carrying water, and connecting two parts of the Delaware & Hudson Canal (D & H), it has since been converted to carry automotive traffic and pedestrians.

Ski Big Bear

Ski Big Bear is a skiing and snowboarding resort located in Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania. While open to the public, it is an amenity of the Masthope Mountain Community and community property owners receive a season pass as part of their annual community dues. It is also fairly unique as the main lodge, parking areas, and facilities are located at the top of the mountain. Skiers and riders descend to the lifts before riding back to the top. Ski Big Bear has a vertical drop of 650 feet.
