Lockwood Folly River

Lockwood Folly River or Lockwood's Folly River is a short tidal river in Brunswick County, North Carolina, USA. Waters from the Green Swamp drain into the river near Supply and flow southward to empty into the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway near Sunset Harbor. The Lockwood Folly Country Club in Varnamtown takes its name from the river.

USS Iron Age (1862)

USS Iron Age (1862) was a steamer acquired by the Union Navy during the American Civil War. She was used by the Navy to patrol navigable waterways of the Confederacy to prevent the South from trading with other countries. Iron Age was built at Kennebunk, Maine, in 1862; then purchased by the Navy at Boston, Massachusetts, 28 April 1863 and commissioned 25 June 1863, Lt. Comdr. E. E. Stone in command.

Shallotte River

The Shallotte River (pronounced shallOtte) is a tidal river in Brunswick County, North Carolina, USA. Waters drain from the tributaries of the Green Swamp near the town of Shallotte and flow south down the river to empty into the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. Approximately one mile southwest of the river's mouth lies the Shallotte Inlet which connects the Intracostal Waterway to Long Bay of the Atlantic Ocean.
