Firelands High School

Firelands High School is a public high school in Lorain County, Ohio. The Firelands Local School District was officially formed in 1952 with the consolidation of the Brownhelm, Camden, Florence and Henrietta school districts. Firelands High School absorbed South Amherst High School and its school district during the summer of 1988. A formal dedication and open house of the current building was held on November 21, 1954.

Gore Orphanage

Gore Orphanage is the name used by some residents of the greater Cleveland area in the American state of Ohio to refer to a supposedly haunted ruin near the city of Vermilion in Lorain County, Ohio. The ruin is a building that formerly housed the Swift Mansion and later, the Light of Hope Orphanage, and is the subject of local urban legends, whereby the violent deaths of young children is alleged to have occurred.

Birmingham, Erie County, Ohio

Birmingham is an unincorporated community in eastern Florence Township, Erie County, Ohio, United States. It is part of the Sandusky Metropolitan Statistical Area. Although Birmingham is unincorporated, it has a post office, with the ZIP code of 44816. It is located at the intersection of State Routes 60 and 113. Birmingham was the original site of the Woollybear Festival. On March 3, 2009, fire destroyed a restaurant and the post office in the community.

Lorain County Speedway

Lorain County Speedway is an auto racing track located in Amherst Township, Lorain County, near South Amherst, Ohio, USA opened in 1949 as a 1/3 mile dirt oval. It was paved between the 1960 and 1961 racing seasons. It is currently a 3/8-mile asphalt oval, with 12 degree banking in both turns, and slight banking on the straightaways.
