New Philadelphia is a city in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, United States, 71 miles south of Cleveland on the Tuscarawas River. It was first incorporated in 1808. Coal and clay are found in the vicinity. Tuscarawas County is a county located in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 92,582, which is an increase of 1.8% from 90,914 in 2000. Its county seat is New Philadelphia. Its name is a Delaware Indian word variously translated as "old town" or "open mouth". The New Philadelphia–Dover Micropolitan Statistical Area includes all of Tuscarawas County.

WJER

WJER (1450 AM "The Voice of the Valley") is a commercial radio station. Licensed to the area of Dover-New Philadelphia, Ohio, it serves the Tuscarawas County area. It first began broadcasting in 1950, and had an FM sister station (WJER-FM) that operated from 1969 to 2006, which is today WHOF. The station had been owned by Clear Channel Communications in a reverse LMA by former owner Gary Petricola, who repurchased the AM station in 2007.

Dover High School (Dover, Ohio)

Dover High School is a public high school in Dover, Ohio and is the only high school in the Dover City Schools district. The school's athletic teams are nicknamed The Dover Tornadoes, and the school colors are crimson and gray. The Dover High School Alma Mater was composed by L. H. Alexander. Dover’s first school house was constructed in 1827 in a forested area on the south side of 4th Street (near the cemetery).
