Pekowi

Pekowi was the name of one of the five divisions (or bands) of the Shawnee, a Native American people, during the 18th century. The other four divisions were the Chalahgawtha, Mekoche, Kispoko, and Hathawekela. Together these divisions formed the loose confederacy that was the Shawnee tribe. All five Shawnee division names have been spelled in a great variety of ways.

Battle of Piqua

The Battle of Piqua, also known as the Battle of Pekowee or Pekowi, was part of the western campaign during the American Revolutionary War. Led by General George Rogers Clark, over 1,000 soldiers crossed the Ohio River near present-day Cincinnati and burned five Shawnee villages, including Old Chillicothe, along the Little Miami River. Peter Loramie's Store, a British trading post-located in what was later Fort Loramie, Ohio in Shelby County, Ohio-, was also burned by Clark's men.

Enon, Ohio

Enon is a village in Clark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,415 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, Ohio Metropolitan Statistical Area. Enon is the headquarters of the Speedway SuperAmerica gas station chain. The Enon Mound, Ohio's second largest conical Indian burial mound, is located in Enon. This mound is believed to have been built by the Adena culture.
