WSJR is a country music station in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania called "Great Country 93.7". Specifically, they are "Northeast PA's Number One Country Variety. " WSJR began broadcasting on Memorial Day 1989 as WDLS. It was operated by local broadcast engineer and bodybuilder Ron Schacht and his wife Denise for several years before being sold to a Carbondale radio group. The format was a mix of classic and contemporary country music with the emphasis on the classic country.

WZMF is an AM broadcasting radio station licensed to the city of Nanticoke, Pennsylvania and serves the Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, and Hazleton radio markets with a Classic Hits format, switching from Adult Standards and Tropical and Spanish language adult contemporary format in December 2008. The station simulcasts sister WGMF located in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania. WZMF broadcasts at a frequency of 730 kHz with 1,000 Watts of power during the daytime with a non-directional antenna.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre

Penn State Wilkes-Barre is a commonwealth campus of the Pennsylvania State University. It is located in Back Mountain, Pennsylvania. The Wilkes-Barre Campus can trace its history to 1915 when two top engineers, who were affiliated with Penn State and worked in the coal industry, released a study on the growing need for additional engineers in the region.
