KGNC is a radio broadcast service in Amarillo, Texas, USA. It operates KGNC and KGNC-FM. Both stations are owned by the Morris Communications Company since acquiring the Amarillo Globe-News Publishing Company in 1972. KGNC was formed when the Amarillo Globe-News Publishing Company purchased two radio stations, WDAG and KRGS. WDAG was the first radio station in Amarillo. The Texas Panhandle is a region of the U.S. state of Texas consisting of the northernmost 26 counties in the state. The panhandle is a rectangular area bordered by New Mexico to the west and Oklahoma to the north and east. The Handbook of Texas defines the southern border of Swisher County to be the southern boundary of the Texas Panhandle region, though some consider the region to extend as far south as Lubbock County.

Pantex Plant
The Pantex plant is America's only nuclear weapons assembly and disassembly facility and is charged with maintaining the safety, security and reliability of the nation’s nuclear weapons stockpile. The facility is located on a 16,000 acre (65 km) site 17 miles (27 km) northeast of Amarillo, in Carson County, Texas in the Panhandle of Texas. The plant is managed and operated for the United States Department of Energy by BWXT Pantex and Sandia National Laboratories.
