It is located just north of the junction of Farm Roads 2717 and 2760, approximately two miles southeast of Port Lavaca and northwest of Magnolia Beach. The word Magnolia was added to the beach name to suggest the beauty of the setting since magnolias grow locally. Today, Magnolia Beach is a lightly populated, but developing bay front community.

Lavaca Bay
Lavaca Bay is a northwestern extension of the Matagorda Bay system found mostly in Calhoun County, Texas, United States. The ports of Port Lavaca and Point Comfort have been established on the bay, and are the main areas of human habitation. Linnville was located on the bay until its abandonment after the Great Raid of 1840, and the major port of Indianola was found near the confluence with the main Matagorda Bay, until the town's final destruction following the massive hurricane of 1886.

Calhoun High School (Port Lavaca, Texas)
Calhoun High School is a public high school located in Port Lavaca, Texas and is part of the Calhoun County Independent School District. It came into being when all of the county schools were consolidated in 1948. The present school was built in the 1960s when the former high school, now Travis Middle School, became overcrowded. In 2011, the school was rated "Academically Acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.
