Callaghan, Texas

Callaghan is a ranching community in Webb County, Texas and was established in 1881. The community was named after a nearby ranch owned by Charles Callaghan and much later Joe B. Finley. The community was once a cattle shipping point on the International and Great Northern Railroad. Callaghan is served by the Callaghan Ranch Airport. Callaghan is fourteen miles north of Laredo, Texas.

Encinal, Texas

Encinal is a city in La Salle County, Texas, United States. The population was 629 at the 2000 census. Interstate 35 Business runs through the community. There are few businesses in Encinal; most have closed along the main street. Railroad officials named the town for the Spanish word for oak grove. The population peaked in 1937 at 800 residents. A rattlesnake measuring 5 feet, 7 inches was captured there in 1972.

KELT (FM)

KELT branded as KJ316 is an American commercial radio station licensed in 2010 to serve the community of Encinal, Texas. The station's broadcast license is held by Randall E. Leyendecker. The station broadcasts Christian contemporary music for the southern rural La Salle and northern Webb counties region. It currently has a construction permit to broadcast at a higher ERP.

Sombrerillito Creek

Sombrerillito Creek is a small stream of water located in Webb County, Texas which runs through Laredo, Texas. The creek is formed 13 miles north of Laredo and runs southwest for 16 miles until connecting to the Rio Grande. Sombrerillito Creek was dammed in northwest Laredo to form Sombrerillito Creek Lake, the third largest lake in Laredo. The terrain surrounding the creek is mostly clay and sandy loams.

Webb County, Texas

Webb County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the official 2010 census population for the county is 250,304. Its county seat is Laredo. Webb County was named after James Webb, who served as Secretary of the Treasury, Secretary of State, and Attorney General of the Republic of Texas, and later judge of the United States District Court following the admission of Texas to statehood. By area, Webb County is the largest county in South Texas and one of the largest in the state.
