Randall County, Texas

Randall County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. It forms part of the Amarillo metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, its population was 120,725. Its seat is Canyon. Randall is named for Horace Randal, a Confederate brigadier general killed at the Battle of Jenkins Ferry. The reason the county name differs from his is because the bill creating the county misspelled Randal's name.

First United Bank Center is a 5,800 seat multi-purpose arena in Canyon, Texas. It was built in 2002. It is the home of the West Texas A&M University Buffaloes basketball teams.

West Texas A&M University

West Texas A&M University (also known as WTAMU, WT, and formerly West Texas State), part of the Texas A&M University System, is a public university located in Canyon, Texas, a small city south of Amarillo. West Texas A&M opened on September 20, 1910. West Texas A&M University was originally called West Texas State Normal College and started out as one of the seven state-funded teacher colleges.

KWTS

KWTS is a radio broadcast service in Canyon, Texas, USA and is operated by the West Texas A&M University. The station started broadcasting in 1972 with 10 watts—just enough to cover the university's campus. In 1982, the Federal Communications Commission ordered all educational radio stations to increase power. Later that year, the station's power increased to 100 watts and broadcast in stereo.
