Lubbock Christian University

Lubbock Christian University is a private Christian university associated with the Churches of Christ located in Lubbock, Texas, in the United States. It was established in 1957. A fall 2012 count showed 2,135 students enrolled at Lubbock Christian University, of which nearly 500 are graduate students. LCU is located just off Loop 289 across from Resthaven Cemetery.

Reese Air Force Base

Reese Air Force Base was a base of the United States Air Force located 6 mi west of Lubbock, Texas, about 225 mi WNW of Fort Worth. The base's primary mission throughout its existence was pilot training. The base was closed 30 September 1997 after being selected for closure by the Base Realignment and Closure Commission in 1995 and is now a research and business park called Reese Technology Center.

South Plains Mall

South Plains Mall is a 1,200,000-square-foot shopping mall located in Lubbock, Texas. It is located at the southwest corner of Loop 289 and Slide Road in the busy shopping district of southwest Lubbock. The mall was opened in 1972 with an initial square footage of 846,000 square feet at a cost of $25 million. The mall has been owned by Macerich since its purchase in 1998 for $115.7 million from the original developer, South Plains Mall Associates Ltd.

Sunset International Bible Institute

Sunset International Bible Institute is a Churches of Christ-affiliated institution of higher education in Lubbock, Texas. It was established in 1962 by Cline Rex Paden (1919–2007), a native of Hunt County, upon his return to Lubbock from an extended missionary trip to Italy. Originally called the Latin American Bible School, Sunset started with six students being trained as Spanish-speaking preachers.
