Founded in 1970, by Tyson Burton after the Granite School District condemned the property and obtained the land from farmers, who bought the land from Native Americans. The current enrollment is just above 1,500 with many ethnic groups represented. It hosts traditional schooling, grades 10-12, as well as a public charter school, the Academy for Math, Engineering, and Science(AMES) which utilizes unused school space.
