Porcupine Dam

Porcupine Dam (National ID # UT00251) is a dam in Cache County, Utah, in the northern part of the state. The earthen dam was constructed in 1964 by the Porcupine Reservoir Company, with a height of 165 feet and a length of 665 feet at its crest. It impounds the water of the East Fork of the Little Bear River, primarily for irrigation. The reservoir it creates, Porcupine Reservoir, has a water surface of 190 acres, a shoreline of about 4.2 miles, and a maximum capacity of 12,500 acre-feet.

Little Bear River

The Little Bear River is a 36.4-mile-long tributary of the Bear River in northern Utah in the United States. It rises in the mountains east of Brigham City, where three forks (West, South, and East) join at Avon, then flows north to Paradise. At Paradise it spills out into the broad flats of Cache Valley, passing north by Hyrum, where it is impounded by the Hyrum Reservoir, then meandering generally west by Wellsville.

Abbey of Our Lady of the Holy Trinity

The Abbey of Our Lady of the Holy Trinity is a Trappist monastery in Huntsville, Utah. It was founded in 1947 at the invitation of Bishop Hunt of Salt Lake City. The monks briefly used temporary WWII barracks which had been left on the location, and soon moved to Quonset huts. Plans to replace the deteriorating huts were placed on hold in 2007. 32 monks were with the abbey when it was founded, and at one point the abbey held 84 monks and novices; now there are only 17.
