Vermont Experimental Cold-Hardy Cactus Garden

The Vermont Experimental Cold-Hardy Cactus Garden (less than 100 square feet) is a nonprofit amateur botanical garden for cactus and succulents that are hardy for USDA Zones 4 and 5 of northern New England, upstate New York, and eastern Canada. The collection includes several opuntias, yuccas, and sedums in a small raised bed and mini hillside planting.

Fort Independence (Vermont)

Fort Independence was a fort built in 1775 on Mount Independence next to Lake Champlain. It was placed directly across from Fort Ticonderoga to help fortify the approach to Albany. The intent was to provide a combined, two-shore defense to approaching British Forces. The stone crafted Fort Ticonderoga, that was originally built as Fort Carillon by the French in 1756, was misplaced to effectively repel an attack from the north.

Battle of Carillon

The Battle of Carillon, also known as the 1758 Battle of Ticonderoga, was fought on July 8, 1758, during the French and Indian War (which was part of the global Seven Years War). It was fought near Fort Carillon (now known as Fort Ticonderoga) on the shore of Lake Champlain in the frontier area between the British colony of New York and the French colony of Canada.

Ticonderoga (Amtrak station)

The Ticonderoga Station, often referred to as the Fort Ticonderoga Amtrak Station is a train station in Ticonderoga, New York. It is served by the Adirondack, and is 400 yards from the ferry to Shoreham, Vermont. Unlike the Port Kent Station which also serves a cross-lake ferry, Ticonderoga Station is enclosed and is not seasonal. Fort Ticonderoga does have a that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is not served by Amtrak or any other railroad, however.
