Spotsylvania County is a county in the U.S. state of Virginia. As of the 2000 census, the population was 90,395, growing to 124,526 by 2012. Its county seat is Spotsylvania Courthouse. The independent city of Fredericksburg is located northeast of the county but is politically separate. The county is a part of the Washington Metropolitan Area. Battle of Spotsylvania Court House
The Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, sometimes simply referred to as the Battle of Spotsylvania (or the 19th century spelling Spottsylvania), was the second major battle in Lt. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant's 1864 Overland Campaign of the American Civil War. Following the bloody but inconclusive Battle of the Wilderness, Grant's army disengaged from Confederate General Robert E. Lee's army and moved to the southeast, attempting to lure Lee into battle under more favorable conditions.

Spotsylvania High School
Spotsylvania High School is a high school in Spotsylvania, Virginia. It serves the southern half of the Spotsylvania County. The Knights are the least densely populated of the schools in the area. The Army JROTC program for the Knight Battalion which consist of cadets from both Massaponax High School and Spotsylvania High School attend courses here. The Knight Battalion as of 2008-2009 school year is an Honor Unit with Distinction. Spostlyvania also hosts a CGS site.

Spotsylvania Courthouse, Virginia
Spotsylvania Courthouse is an unincorporated community and the county seat of Spotsylvania County, Virginia, located ten miles (16 km) southwest of Fredericksburg. Recognized by the U.S. Census Bureau as a census designated place (CDP), the population was 3,833 at the 2000 census. During the American Civil War, the crossroads community became a Union objective during the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, fought May 8–21, 1864.
