Carson, Virginia

Carson is an unincorporated community in Prince George County, Virginia, United States, located between Petersburg and Stony Creek, just west of Interstate 95. History Carson was put on the map by virtue of the railroad that divides it. Carson is located on CSX's North End Subdivision between Petersburg and the Virginia/North Carolina state line. Most of the same trains traveling between Petersburg and Richmond on CSX also pass through Carson.

The Second Battle of Ream's Station (also Reams or Reams's) was fought during the Siege of Petersburg in the American Civil War on August 25, 1864, in Dinwiddie County, Virginia. A Union force under Maj. Gen. Winfield S. Hancock began destroying part of the Weldon Railroad, which was a vital supply line for Gen. Robert E. Lee's Confederate army in Petersburg, Virginia. The First Battle of Ream's Station was fought on June 29, 1864, during the Wilson-Kautz Raid of the American Civil War. Confederate forces under Maj. Gen. William Mahone and Brig. Gen. Fitzhugh Lee defeated Union cavalry raiding Confederate railroads south of Petersburg, Virginia.

Richard Bland College

Richard Bland College of The College of William and Mary (commonly, "Richard Bland College") is a public junior college with about 1,400 students located near Petersburg, Virginia. Named after Virginian statesman Richard Bland, RBC was established in 1960 by the Virginia General Assembly as a branch of the College of William and Mary and was once under the umbrella of "the Colleges of William and Mary".
