John Custis

John Custis (August 1678–after 14 November 1749) was a member of the Governor's Council in the British Colony of Virginia. Often he is designated as John Custis IV or John Custis, of Williamsburg, to distinguish him from his grandfather, father, and other relatives of the same name. His parents were John Custis (ca. 1654–1714) (usually designated John Custis III or John Custis, of Wilsonia), who was also a Council member, and Margaret Michael Custis.

William B. Trower Bayshore Natural Area Preserve

William B. Trower Bayshore Natural Area Preserve is a Natural Area Preserve located in Northampton County, Virginia. A small preserve with no public facilities, it is located on the Chesapeake Bay, and contains beach strand and dune communities. It supports a population of the northeastern beach tiger beetle, as well as some scrubland and woodland areas. The preserve was named in honor of William Bell Trower, a Northampton County physician and farmer.

Cape Charles Coastal Habitat Natural Area Preserve

Cape Charles Coastal Habitat Natural Area Preserve is a Natural Area Preserve located in Northampton County, Virginia, on the Chesapeake Bay side of the Eastern Shore. 29 acres in size, it features coastal beach, dune, and maritime forest habitat, preserving a home for the northeastern beach tiger beetle. Bedstraw grows on the dunes. The preserve serves as a staging area for southward-bound migratory birds in the fall.
