White House Bridge

White House Bridge was located west of Luray, Virginia over the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. During the American Civil War, on 2 June 1862, Stonewall Jackson's cavalry chief Turner Ashby burned this bridge to slow down Federal pursuit of their forces. The battles of Cross Keys and Port Republic were fought a week later. Earlier that year, during April and May 1862, the steamer Corwin with Thomas Stowell Phelps in command, had stopped Confederate forces from destroying the bridge.

Luray High School

Luray High School is a public high school located in Luray, Virginia. Luray High School is home to roughly 600 students, in grades 9-12. Before moving to the new building, it was one of the few 5-year high schools in the nation. The school is part of the Page County Public School System. The school's colors are maroon and white, and the mascot is the bulldog.
