James Madison University (also known as JMU, Madison, or James Madison) is a public coeducational research university located in Harrisonburg, Virginia, U.S. Founded in 1908 as the State Normal and Industrial School for Women at Harrisonburg, the institution was renamed Madison College in 1938, in honor of President James Madison. On March 22, 1977, Virginia Governor Godwin Miles signed legislation renaming the university James Madison University.

Bridgeforth Stadium and Zane Showker Field
Bridgeforth Stadium and Zane Showker Field is a football only facility located on the campus of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The stadium is home to the James Madison University Dukes football team. Originally named Madison Stadium, it was built in 1975 and had a capacity of approximately 5,200. The stadium was originally designed as a multi-purpose facility, and hosted football, track and field, lacrosse, and field hockey events.

James Madison University Convocation Center
The James Madison University Convocation Center is a 7,156-seat multi-purpose arena in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The arena opened in 1982. It is home to the James Madison University Dukes basketball team. It hosted the 1984 Colonial Athletic Association (then the ECAC South) men's basketball tournament. It is one of the rotating host venues for the CAA Women's Basketball Tournament, having hosted the tournament six times since 1987.

The Edith J. Carrier Arboretum is an arboretum and botanical garden on the James Madison University campus, located in Harrisonburg, Virginia, USA in the Shenandoah Valley. Groundbreaking for the arboretum took place April, 1985, under direction of Dr. Norlyn Bodkin,[1 1] who is credited the first scientific botanical discovery along the Eastern Seaboard of Virginia since the 1940s, Trillium: Shenandoah Wake Robin, presently found at the arboretum[2 2].
