Windsor, Virginia

Windsor is an incorporated town in Isle of Wight County in the Hampton Roads region of southeastern Virginia in the United States. It is located near the crossroads of U.S. Route 460 and U.S. Route 258. The population was 916 at the 2000 census. However, due to recent annexation of a portion of Isle of Wight County, the town of Windsor grew to a population of over 3000 people.

Antioch Pines Natural Area Preserve

The Antioch Pines Natural Area Preserve is a Natural Area Preserve located along the Blackwater River near Zuni, Virginia. It contains growths of loblolly pine and turkey oak, and supports various species that are rare in the Commonwealth, including Plukenet's flatsedge, sandy-woods chaffhead and viperina; in addition, swales support various species of wildflower, including orchids, trilliums, bellworts and lilies.

Wilson-Kautz Raid

The Wilson-Kautz Raid was a cavalry operation in south central Virginia in late June 1864, during the American Civil War. Occurring early in the Richmond-Petersburg Campaign, the raid was conducted by Union cavalry under Brigadier Generals James Wilson and August Kautz, who were ordered to cut railroads between Lynchburg, Virginia, and the vital Confederate rail supply center at Petersburg.
