Elmont, Virginia

Elmont is an unincorporated community in Hanover County in the Central Region of the U.S. state of Virginia. It was located on the former Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad, now owned by CSX Transportation. Elmont was located on the old Washington Highway, and was served by an electric trolley car line between Richmond and Ashland. Formerly consisting primarily of farmland, today Elmont is a community with many residents who commute to jobs in the metropolitan Richmond area.

Virginia Center Commons

Virginia Center Commons (VCC) is the Richmond area's third newest mall and the last to be built indoors to date (opened 1991). It is located in northern Henrico County along U.S. Route 1 near the intersection of Interstate 295. Ashland, Virginia

Ashland is a town located 15 miles north of Richmond along Interstate-95 in Hanover County, Virginia, United States. Ashland is named after the Lexington, Kentucky estate of Hanover County native and statesman Henry Clay. The area known as The Slashes,that later became Ashland, was developed by the Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Potomac Railroad as a mineral springs resort in the 1840s. The population was 7,225 as of the 2010 census.

Ashland, Virginia (Amtrak station)

Ashland, Virginia (Amtrak station) is located at 112 North Railroad Avenue in Ashland, Virginia. The tracks are lined with a cobblestone median in the center of town, making it a popular train-watching site for railfans. Ashland station operates from a former Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad station built in 1923 as a replacement for the station which was originally built in 1866 and rebuilt in 1890.

Keeble Observatory

Keeble Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by Randolph-Macon College. It is located in Ashland, Virginia (USA), named for Dr. William Houston Keeble, distinguished Professor of Physics at Randolph-Macon College from 1919 until his retirement in 1952. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the American Physical Society, the American Association of Physics Teachers, the American Astronomical Society, and was a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
