Virgilina is a town in Halifax County, Virginia, United States. The population was 159 at the 2000 census. Virgilina was once a copper mining town. It is named Virgilina because it is located on the Virginia and North Carolina border. It is approximately 15 miles from Roxboro, North Carolina, which has a road, Virgilina Road, named in its honor.

The Dan River flows 214 miles in the U.S. states of North Carolina and Virginia. It originates in Patrick County, Virginia, and crosses the state border into Stokes County, North Carolina. It flows into northern Caswell County and then back into southern Virginia and finally into Kerr Reservoir on the Roanoke River.
