Battle of Rice's Station
The Battle of Rice's Station was a minor engagement in Appomattox Campaign of the American Civil War that was the immediate prelude to the Battle of Sayler's Creek. On April 6, 1865, Confederate Lt. Gen. James Longstreet's command reached Rice's Station, only to discover that it was blocked by Union troops led by Maj. Gen. John Gibbon. After a minor confrontation and very few casualties, Longstreet withdrew during the night towards Farmville. The location is now the community of Rice, Virginia.

Battle of High Bridge
The Battle of High Bridge was fought on April 6–7, 1865, near the end of the Appomattox Campaign of the American Civil War. On April 6, the Confederate cavalry fought stubbornly to secure the Appomattox River bridges. On April 7, elements of the Union II Corps came up against Lt. Gen. James Longstreet's rear guard attempting to fire the High Bridge and wagon bridge. Union forces were able to save the wagon bridge over which the II Corps crossed in pursuit of Gen. Robert E. Lee's army.

Sayler's Creek Battlefield
Sayler's Creek Battlefield near Farmville, Virginia was the site of the Battle of Sayler's Creek of the American Civil War. Robert E. Lee's army was retreating from the Richmond to Petersburg line. Here, on April 6, 1865, Union General Philip Sheridan cut off and beat back about a quarter of Lee's army. Eight Confederate generals surrendered, and 7,700 men were lost. This was the last major engagement of the war; Lee's surrender at Appomattox occurred three days later.

Battle of Sayler's Creek
The Battle of Sayler's Creek (also known as Sailor's Creek, Hillsman Farm, or Lockett Farm) was fought on April 6, 1865, southwest of Petersburg, Virginia, as part of the Appomattox Campaign, in the final days of the American Civil War. It was the last major engagement between the armies of Gen. Robert E. Lee and Lt. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant before the capitulation of Lee's Confederate army at Appomattox Court House three days later.

Sailor's Creek Battlefield Historical State Park
Sailor's Creek Battlefield State Park is a 321-acre park in Virginia. It includes a portion of the landmarked Sayler's Creek Battlefield, an area of 1,022 acres that was the site of the 1865 Battle of Sayler's Creek in the American Civil War. It is also likely that some of the park is not included in the four separated parcels that were landmarked. The park includes picnic tables and barbecue grills available for use.
