Catalpa was an 18th-century plantation near Culpeper in Culpeper County, Virginia. Catalpa is best known as the birthplace of John Strode Barbour, Jr. (29 December 1820 – 14 May 1892), a United States House Representative and United States Senator from Virginia. Culpeper County High School

Culpeper County High School, properly abbreviated CCHS, used to be the sole high school in Culpeper County, Virginia. However, a new second high school opened in Fall of 2008. The school's current principal is Dr. Jeffrey J. Dietz. The school has classrooms throughout two buildings: in the whole of the CCHS building and in a separate building with 18 additional classrooms. It commonly uses the acronym BDP, short for "Blue Devil Pride," in posters in the school.
