Zion Crossroads, Virginia

Zion Crossroads is an unincorporated community in Louisa and Fluvanna counties, Virginia, at the intersection of James Madison Highway and Three Notch Road. About 2½ miles north is Green Springs National Historic Landmark District, a U.S. National Historic Landmark. Southwest Mountains

The Southwest Mountains of Virginia are a mountain range centered around Charlottesville, parallel to and geologically associated with the Blue Ridge Mountains, which lie about 30 miles (50 km) to the west. Battle of Trevilian Station

The Battle of Trevilian Station (also called Trevilians) was fought on June 11–12, 1864, in Union Lt. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant's Overland Campaign against Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. Union cavalry under Maj. Gen. Philip Sheridan fought against Confederate cavalry under Maj. Gens. Wade Hampton and Fitzhugh Lee in the bloodiest and largest all-cavalry battle of the war.
